Your Journey begins by understanding the College Process

Type of visa for the USA

M-1 Visa

This type of Visa is for those who will be in a NON-academic, training, or even Vocational School. For this type, you can apply for technical and/or vocational training. Can even possibly work (without a work permit) until completing the course requirements.

J-1 Visa

This type of Visa is for students who would want to work in the USA and be in study-based exchange and visitor programs only. They apply for this to teach, receive certain skill training, and of course, learn. This is structured towards advanced training.

F-1 Visa

This is what we call the “ACADEMIC STUDENT VISA”. It gives you access to enter the United States as a full-time student. The college, University, or any Academic Institution must be accredited to be able to apply for this. Attaining this F-1 Visa is our only goal to embark on your frontier.

What is a student visa?

A citizen of any foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must obtain a visa. This can be an immigrant visa for permanent residence, a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or a student visa to study in the United States. Your course of study and the type of school you plan to attend will determine which type of visa you may be granted, provided you meet all the requirements.

Acceptance must be from a SEVP-approved school.

The first step is to apply to a SEVP-approved school in the United States. Once you are accepted, you will be registered in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System). The SEVIS I-901 fee, which is included and paid by Scholastic Frontier, will also be processed at this stage. After your acceptance, the SEVP-approved school will issue you a Form I-20. Once you receive the Form I-20 and are registered in SEVIS, the next step is to apply for a student (F or M) visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. You will need to present the Form I-20 to the consular officer when you attend your visa interview.

The Step by Step process

  1. Pick the college of choice and fill out the College Application. Most colleges and universities will ask for a small deposit of the 1st year tuition. All documents that the college ask for should be given. These are High school diploma, Immunizations, the TOEFL exam, bank statements and other pertinent information that the college will require.
  2. Once the college has these documents, they will enter the information into a US Government database. This will be in the SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program which manages the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.
  3. This certain college will now be known as DSO (Designated School Official).
  4. The DSO/College of choice will send the most important document, which is the I-20. This is a “Certificate of Eligibility for non-immigrant Student Status.
  5. Now, you and your student have the I-20, you will need to file for the DS-160 (Nonimmigrant Visa Application).
  6. Once the DS-160 has been received and the fee paid, you will need to schedule an appointment for the interview with the US Embassy or US Consulate.
  7. Pass the interview, then the F-1 visa will be approved.
